The Club

Ellas Football Club Helsinki is a football team established in 1990 by the greek immigrant community of Helsinki. As years have passed, the team has evolved into a more multi-national appearance. However, the greek heritage is still present in our everyday activities, not least because of the beloved manager and founder of the team, Georgios Tsakiroglou and the handful of players of greek descent. It should still be noted that we warmly welcome all the players regardless of their nationality.

Throughout the first season of Ellas existence, 1990, all the player of the team were of greek descent. However, the internationalization of the club begun already during the next season. As the years have passed, there have been players from over 85 different countries and 5 continents.

At the moment the club has 4 teams in several football leagues. The representative team plays in the season 2012 in 5th division and the second team Ellas/2 plays in 6th division, both divisions being in the Helsinki district. The senior team Ellas Seniors plays in the 35+ series and during the winters Ellas Futsal participates in the futsal competition. On the top of these, the representative team takes part into the Finnish Cup each spring.
